Greetings and welcome to SissenerWrites.com!
About Me: Hello. My name is Morten Sissener. For the past 25+ years I’ve been actively involved in the evolution of creating electricity. One way or another I’ve worked on the design, permitting, financing, construction and operation of power generation projects utilizing wind, solar, landfill gas, natural gas, hydro, sugar cane waste (bagasse), coal and petroleum coke. From analyst to CEO, technology development to sales and marketing, engineer to financier, Fortune 500 to small startups – I’ve been there, done that. More recently, I’ve started a consultancy providing services to utilities, developers, energy firms, and financial institutions involved in power generation .
Along the way I’ve been fortunate to become a father to two extraordinary daughters. I’m also a blues guitar player, music buff, techie, sailor and love working with my hands to make things – art, furniture, speakers, amplifiers, photographs….it’s all good. You may have noticed by now that I have a creative itch that I have to scratch. More recently I’ve been channeling that creative energy into writing, both fiction and non-fiction. Which brings me to the point of all this. For if blogging isn’t about writing, it’s about nothing at all.
About This Blog – Part 1: For most of us, all we ever needed to know about energy was that it came out of a wall or a hose and didn’t cost too much. Those days are over. This blog serves as a platform to help shape the debate on our new energy future. Changes in our approach to energy production and consumption are essential if we’re going to meet the converging triple challenges of economic decline, global environmental decline, and increased national security risk. Why? Because energy is central to both the cause, and the ultimate solution, to this convergence.
About This Blog – Part 2: This blog also serves as a platform for the development of my career as a professional writer. In addition to this blog and work as a contributing editor, I am also chipping away on a fictional novel – Power Play – as well as other writing projects.
I hope you enjoy my blog postings and come back to visit when new material appears. Also, blogging is a two way street so I look forward to seeing your comments.
